DOLOMITES INFO

The adventure begins: discover the Dolomites

The lure of South Tyrol, the dream of every climber and mountaineer, every skier and snowboarder, a unique wonder of nature, all of these and a lot more are the Dolomites in South Tyrol.

Dolomiten - Sexten - Winter

The mountain range of the pale mountains, as they were formerly known because of their chalky rock, was explored for the first time in 1778 by the French Deodat de Dolomieu, who gave this mountain formation in the southern part of the Alps its name. Today the Dolomites are a sequence of famous names like Drei Zinnen, Sella, Rosengarten, Latemar, Marmolada – by the way with its 3343 m the highest summit of the Dolomites – and all the famous alpinists who were the first to climb them: Grohmann, Winkler … The Dolomites portray the history of alpinism as well as the history of tourism and if one day you might be close to Niederdorf you should visit Mrs Emma, a famous landlady and pioneer.
