The sunny apples of Feldthurns

The community of Feldthurns in South Tyrol is among the most beautiful spots in the Eisacktal. The village is in a balanced climate with much sun which is also why Feldthurns is also called the ‘sun terrace of the Eisacktal’.

Imbedded in vineyards and chestnut groves pass quite a number of hiking paths to the surrounding fields and forests, but also to hidden ruins of hamlets. While on your way to the destination of your choice, you will always have the Dolomites in your sight. A walk through the apple fields on the way to Brixen is particularly rewarding and so is a tour through the entire low mountain range to the Radl Lake (Radlsee). Whoever loves the water had however better hike to the rushing water fall above Schrammbach.
Something for each season!
In winter you can use the local mountain (Plose) with its three alpenstocks for skiing or go on a tour below sweet chestnut trees on one of the numerous cross-country ski slopes. Admirers of arts and of architectural edifice will rejoice in the sight of the spruce cottages and the raised stand encircled with pinnacles. In autumn a vacation to Feldthurns is worthwhile in particular because the place ranks among the strongholds of traditional feasts in the region. Tuck in the specialities of the Eisacktal, such as freshly roasted chestnuts and above all fresh must. Where else on earth can a long-established festivity be more of a treat than in the splendid surroundings of a cosy farming house that fits in beautifully into the idyllic landscape?
