Any hotel of your choice is an ideal starting point for trekking. You can walk across level paths through the wide larch forest and take pleasure in the clean and fresh air, pick a few mushrooms or observe deer – if you are lucky, though! If you, however, happen to be a more experienced hiker or mountaineer, you will find a challenge in climbing up the famous Stufenleiter (‘Step Ladder’), ramble across the low mountain range of the Alps, across farming lands up to the cragged Pfunderer mountains and in the evenings an outing to the Issinger Weiher (‘Mere of Issing’) is very worthwhile.
If you are more fond of snow and winter outdoor activities, then Pfalzen also makes a top destination for your vacation. There is a bus running every hour that will take you to the Christmas market in Bruneck or to the fabulous skiing route on the Kronplatz/Plan de Corones. You can either decide on going on a 30 miles track for cross-country skiing or if you are more into bobsleds, then you will certainly fancy a run on the illuminated slope at night. You see, there really is nothing like a holiday in Pfalzen!
