During your holidays in Uttenheim in the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley, you will experience South Tyrol in its most original and unspoilt state. Here the farm life hasn’t changed much across the centuries and the direct contact with nature still defines everyday life and chores.
The little river “Ahrn” wriggles idyllically through the cosy village and its surrounding meadows and woods. On the surrounding mountain and forest slopes you can find the highest and most isolated mountain farms in the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley. In summer you can walk to the nearby villages of Gais, Tesselberg or Kematen. Also Sand in Taufers, the biggest village in the valley, is very close. There you can taste South Tyrolean specialities during the “Tauferer Straßenküche”, a culinary event in Sand in Taufers, which in summer takes place every Tuesday. Also Bruneck with its sights and shops is only a stone’s throw away.
In winter the skiing resorts of Speikboden, Klausberg and Kronplatz are within close range. There you cannot only go skiing, but also have a go at snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
