Marvellous holidays in Vintl
Vintl in South Tyrol was one of the most important villages for the development of the Pustertal. Apart from findings stemming from Roman times, you can marvel at a stone skittles ball in the old post house. The legend says that once upon a time a beautiful lady inhabited the Castle of Vintl which was guarded by giants who loved playing at the huge skittles.
One of them apparently missed his target and hit the postmaster’s office. The place of Vintl is home to such tales and you will hear them at every turn during your holiday. But of course there are plenty of other things to spend your time with in Vintl: You can go for a walk and explore the largely remote and untouched Pfunderer Valley. Its bottom is dominated by the wild Pfunderer Brook that rather regularly floods overflows the area and is thus responsible for making the region fertile. On the steep mountainsides the farm houses lie dispersed yet superbly fitting to the scenic landscape – every now and again you will catch sight of a hardworking farmer.
Outdoor sports in Vintl
If you prefer shorter strolls, the centre of Vintl is just as worthwhile as is a lengthy excursion to the hiking and skiing resort on Mount Kronplatz/Plan de Corones. Since the slopes run nearly in front of the house door, Vintl and its abouts are an optimum starting point for setting off on a cross-country skiing tour that will take you to Innichen, the Puster Valley or close to the Dolomites. The mere sight of the breathtaking scenery will make quite certain that you will never feel bored or unhappy here. On the contrary: The brilliant hospitality and the remarkable friendliness will make you feel most welcome and comfortable!
